Reflections on Thirty Five Years Working with Belbin Team Styles and Cultural Values – Inter-culturalists work with the impact of culture on a variety of issues in organisations and society. But often we are guilty of attribution bias assuming that culture is the dominant factor. Attribution bias is a cognitive bias that refers to the systematic errors made when people evaluate or try to find reasons for their own and others’ behaviours. It is important therefore that inter-culturalists are aware of and examine all of the factors that impact why people do the things they do. One of the most important of these factors is personal style which can be measured using a variety of tools such as Harrison, DISK, MBTI et cetera. Belbin Team Styles has been in use for over 40 years and is a leading profiling system measuring contributions to team effectiveness.

Philip Merry has certified more than 400 Belbin facilitators since 1994. This session will introduce you to Belbin and its use when working with multicultural teams: · Big picture orientation in multicultural teams · Influence of culture · Influence of personal style · Why it’s important to be clear on the dominant influence · Belbin style in teams·Assess your own personal dominant Belbin style
